Our Story

Marie-Ève, the heart behind On Leash, has always had an unwavering love for animals. Her journey began by walking shelter dogs, caring for friends’ pets, and offering occasional pet-sitting. Her passion for training sparked during a road trip to Mexico when she encountered a stray dog and her puppies. One look into Pablo’s piercing blue eyes, and she knew he was coming home to Canada. Determined to give him the best life, she dove into positive reinforcement training, spending countless hours studying and applying her newfound knowledge.

In 2019, Marie-Ève moved to Kelowna and seized the opportunity to start her dream job during the COVID pandemic. Initially working solo, she combined hiking and walking dogs with training sessions, helping owners address behavior challenges. Word quickly spread, and as demand grew, she carefully built a small team of like-minded dog lovers to join her in providing adventures, care, and training for dogs in the community.

Today, On Leash has evolved into a subscription-based platform designed to foster community, not competition. Pet parents seeking trusted care are matched with passionate dog lovers who set their own rates and earn what they deserve, while On Leash takes no commission, focusing instead on connecting people through discussion groups and resources. Beyond matchmaking, other membership tiers provide access to dog training blogs with valuable behavior modification tips, exclusive online courses, and workshops for both dog owners and pet care professionals.

Additionally, members and non-members can access personalized training services, both online and in-person, with Marie-Ève, our expert dog trainer. This innovative model ensures pet owners have options and support while creating meaningful opportunities for pet care professionals.

Her mission is to change the pet industry standards by giving the opportunity to other dog lovers to learn about effective science-based training methods. By sharing her knowledge through this new platform, she aims to offer her members  a space where pet parents and dog lovers alike can connect, learn, and thrive while fostering community and collaboration.
