The founder, Marie-Ève, always had unconditional love for animals, walking dogs in shelters, caring for her friends’ dogs and offering occasional pet sitting. Looking back, her passion for dog training started on a road trip to Mexico when she stumbled upon a stray dog and her puppies. Pablo’s piercing blue eyes and curiosity was all it took to adopt him and bring him back to Canada! She spent countless hour reading about positive reinforcement training methods and applying her knowledge to help train her first puppy.
Marie-Ève, originally from Quebec, moved to Kelowna in 2019 and, during the Covid pandemic, decided to create her dream job and help busy owners have their dogs properly exercised, socialized and change behaviours through positive reinforcement.
On Leash believes that each dog is unique and we personalize our services to your pet’s specific need, breed, age, energy level and personality.
The foudner, Marie-Ève has a diploma in animal behavior science and technology for canine, feline, parrot and equine through CASI Institute with a specialization in aggressive behaviors in canine.
She also has years of experience training dogs from different background and is working towards her CCPDT certification.
Her goal is to help dogs and their owners live a better life together and strengthened their relationship through positive training.
Her mission is to change the pet industry standards by giving the opportunity to other dog lovers to learn about effective science-based training methods. By sharing her knowledge with her team, she aims to offer her clientele more than just a walk through educated dog walkers.
If we believe a person will be a great addiction to our team, she must first go through our selection process and be interviewed by On Leash’s owner. The perfect candidate must have experience with dogs and be willing to learn about animal behaviors. Every person we hire is a true animal lover with a valid pet first aid and must learn about the positive reinforcement techniques we use to help your dog succeed.
